Keep Up with CoxHealth

EMS HEROs are funded through Federal Grant

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded the CoxHealth Foundation a million dollars for HERO: Helping train EMS in the Rural Ozarks. This grant for the CoxHealth EMS services benefits five rural Missouri counties. It will be used to train new EMT’s living in those communities, filling the crucial need for trained EMS workers.

This funding has also allowed CoxHealth’s Pre-Hospital Services to acquire high-tech equipment to provide training to more than 45 rural police, fire and emergency departments. HERO will also purchase simulation manikins to use in training emergency services workers to provide the highest standard of care to critically injured patients—both adult and pediatric.
