In September of 2017, Cox College received a one million dollar Matching Grant Challenge from the Mabee Foundation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The funds for the challenge are to support the Reinvestment Campaign to assist the college in expanding its nursing programs.
The reinvestment in the current facility will allow the college to expand classrooms sizes, clinical spaces and student collaboration and study rooms. The building, originally built in 1956 as a dormitory for nurses at Burge Hospital has been in great need of a reinvestment. Cox College hopes to grow it’s nursing numbers from 250 students to over 400 students with this project completion and support from the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The challenge now stands at $746,895.15 raised on the million dollar match. This leaves $253,104.85 to the goal and the ability of Cox College to begin the construction and renovation. “There are still recognition rooms available at specific donor levels that allow someone to have a permanent place in the history of this campaign,” says Lisa Alexander, CoxHealth Foundation president. “We are overwhelmed at the support from our faculty, staff, alumni and community in meeting this challenge and feel confident that we will achieve it by early Spring of this year.” To make a donation you can go online to coxhealthfoundation-staging.xbrcuwh0-liquidwebsites.com and type in Cox College Campaign as your donation choice or contact the Foundation for more information at 417-269-7109.
