The Pancake War Continues to help stop Cancer! Posted March 1, 2020 by Brandi VanAntwerp

The annual Pancake War was waged February 28th at Cox South Hospital. The competitors were team: Dr. Curtis Mattson and CoxHealth V.P. Ron Prenger versus Dr.’s Jose Dominguez, John Trombold and Rakesh Hegde, all colorectal surgeons.

The $5 a plate of pancakes brought in $1,600 to support the Colorectal Cancer Prevention Fund at the CoxHealth Foundation. This fund provides free colonoscopies for patients who need, but cannot afford this cancer stopping test.

Participants sampled pancakes made with bacon, sausage, fruit, M and M’s and more. Dr. Hegde’s contribution included a rice pancake filled with potatoes. CoxHealth staff voted on their favorite team and by votes, the winner was the three doctors.

In funds raised, team Prenger and Mattson pulled off the win. Thanks to everyone who donated, supported and volunteered at this great event!
