Did you know that in the last 9 months, our Patient Advocates at the Hulston Cancer Center have provided support and resources to over 8,000 cancer patients?
It seems like such a simple thing- to purchase a bow, but it’s far more. Your generous donation will help patients to access transportation to care, medications, coverage for special medical needs that insurance or other programs will not provide. When a cancer patient is in the fight for their life, the last thing you want them worrying about is how they are going to GET to their chemotherapy treatment.
The Knot Forgotten program provides Advocates that make these calls, find these solutions and make them happen for our patients.
Remembering and honoring loved ones
This year Jean is Knot Forgotten as she lost her battle with cancer in 2025. Jean had ampullary carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. If that wasn’t hard enough, she also suffered from diabetes. Jean had several surgeries and chemotherapy over a number of years, hoping for healing. Thanks to the Knot Forgotten program, Jean received the help she needed during her treatment. Before she passed, she called to express her gratitude and sent this letter to the CoxHealth Foundation.
I bought a bow many years ago for a friend with cancer, who knew I would be next. When I started my treatment, I saw the tree with bows at the Hulston Cancer Center. I felt so much love for me and for those battling this darn cancer. It just filled me with hope. Every time I came to Hulston I would stop and read one of those tags and it just lifted me up. Thank you for this bright spot in my treatment. I felt special like this tree and the bows boost me up.”
If you would like to honor another special person like Jean, or boost the spirits of those fighting against cancer, please consider a Knot Forgotten bow to accomplish both. All bows include a message tag with your name and the name of the person or persons you are honoring. Make your message specific to your loved one, or one for all who will see and read. The bows are placed on a tree at Hulston Cancer Center and in the lobby of Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Each donation directly benefits cancer patients at CoxHealth through the Glauser Oncology Fund program that provides Patient Advocates and resources to every patient in need.
Thank you for giving our patients another ally in their fight and hope for their future!
