What can $500 do?
It’s a question with many answers. In this case, $500 is what gave the Balogh’s peace of mind that their medical bill was paid.
“We want to express how grateful we are for the help we received from the Good Samaritan Fund. We are elderly and on a fixed income and could not afford to pay our bill. Without your help, we don’t know what we would have done. Thank you so much!”
Steve and Loretta Balogh
The reality is many people in Southwest Missouri are uninsured or underinsured. In the case of the Balogh family, they were hard working people whose social security barely covers their daily living. A medical crisis can throw their life into disarray. It’s the generosity of donors to our Good Samaritan Fund who allow the CoxHealth Foundation to remove a burden and bring the focus back to getting well. The Good Samaritan Fund dates back to Lester Cox who helped fund it initially as a helping hand up. Today, gifts to the Good Samaritan Fund keep this legacy of compassion and empathy alive at CoxHealth. The Good Samaritan Fund Committee meets once a month to review applications for assistance and award grants to patients. The grants gifted are limited by the dollars available. If you would like to help expand the program and offer a helping hand to another patient, click on this link https://www.coxhealthfoundation.com/to-give/donate-now and be a Good Samaritan with us at the CoxHealth Foundation.
